Snake is part of my series of lonely figures at the edge of the sea. The whole series started from a single moment while I was in Greece and I saw a friend staring out at that very deep blue water that reminded me of centuries of civilisation happening around the Mediterranean.
The connection with Myth was inescapable, stories that lie at the core of the western psyche: women like Ariadne, Hero, Penelope who are left to confront and challenge the unknown.
